Family only at something like this. You let em in, and they want to use the bathroom right off the bat. SORRY.

We've tried to avoid the summer All Star season, but my daughter wanted to participate, and made the team. The heat hasn't been bad yet, but it's coming.

I just wanna go to the beach.

I don't know. Every time I've thought we'd have a free weekend, something else comes up.

Good Morning All!

On this Memorial Day weekend, lets' think about the brave men and women, who gave their lives so you could have your freedom.

Think about the families, who gave a son or daughter to that cause and think of all the people who are now free because of the sacrifices that American soldiers have made throughout history, many of them giving their lives for it.

Let's Celebrate Memorial Day for what it stands for and not as a 3 day holiday weekend. - "Garret Watson"

Very well said. I sure puts things in perspective. Make sure you put our your flag and also call a veteran to offer their thanks for our freedom. I do it every year.

G'mornin' all!

Flag will be flying in about fifteen minutes.

Does anyone else remember what Memorial Day was called prior to WW-II, and why?

A nice tradition lost.

Right! This national holiday is not about vets, it's about DEAD vets. The one for vets comes in November.

This weekend, remember someone killed in action for our freedom. For the full impact, visit their grave and lay a flower or two (if you can). Maybe pull some weeds from around it, pick up some trash, make it look just a little nicer. Pay him or her a little honor. Remember what that person did for you and your kids.

For anyone interested, there will be a traditional "small-town" parade this Monday at 11AM in Canoga Park.

"Memorial Day or Decoration Day, began in 1868 when members of the Grand Army of the Republic heeded the request of their commander, General John A. Logan, to decorate the graves of their fallen compatriots. It has since become the day on which the United States honors the dead of all its wars and is observed as a legal holiday in most states. National services are held at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier in Arlington, Virginia."
--Posted by Allan Ellenberger on May 26th, 2008--

This shot's from Arlington. It's called "Flags In". There are over a quarter million flags placed just prior to Memorial Day by the soldiers of the 3rd U.S. Infantry, and picked up again before re-opening to the public. Each is one foot in front of, and centered on, each gravestone.

Good morning guys. Let's hope more people remember what this weekend is really for, not just an extra day off.
