Yeah, it's about as Green as it ever gets right now. I noticed that going up San Gabriel Canyon this morning. Both the reservoirs are full, there's plenty of water in the river...even saw a waterfall. Not a huge one, but it was still a waterfall. Everything was nice and Green. Of course it'll all turn to kindling by the end of June, but for now it's beautiful.

A man was swept away in that river over the weekend. So far they haven't found the body. East Fork.

I'm sensing a lack of interest.

Good morning! So sorry I was up late last night researching the idea of dropping an NV4500 5 speed into my slick.. it seems like a pretty straight forward swap! Also it is not that pricey. I can pick up a rebuilt trans for about 11-1200 bucks, and with the adapter plate, cut down drive shaft, new clutch and all of the other parts, it rounds up to between 18-2000 bucks. Yes I know it is not a ford trans, but it gives a modern bullet proof 5 speed trans made to handle oodles of torque, with a nice big overdrive. It has been the trans of choice for the Cummins diesel, and also for the Chrysler/dodge V10 and apparently the off-roading jeeper crowd love it for it's crawling ability too.

What do you think about that idea?

That's a pretty big trans...no doubt it would handle whatever your FE will throw at it in terms of power. Do you think you'd have to reshape the trans tunnel to make room for it?

I read an article about it and it seems the only adaptation is to move the shifter hole rearward about 4 inches, which seems is a pretty easy do! It has been done on other trucks , and a far as a cross member, the original is removed, and flipped, and a small section cut out, then the four inch wide rectangular front motor mount is bolted to it and them to the trans. it seemed pretty straight forward.
