I still dont understand why you would want to take off a couple of MPH if there is wind resistance. Your engine is turning at 3300 rpm no matter if there is a 2 MPH wind or a 40 MPH wind. It may take more power to overcome this resistance, but 3300 rpm is 3300 rpm any time. And that translates into exactly the same speed at the wheels regardless of the wind resistance.
Seems like the wind resistance would slow the truck down a little, but that would show up in the lowering of the RPM as well, so doubling the speed would still be accurate, IF the tork converter is locked at BOTH the top and half speed. Sure, it's locked at WOT, but is it locked at half speed?
Wonder how my V10 would have done. In my age, I find myself doing more crazy off road things, but at much lower speeds. The old right foot just doesn't seem to push as hard....but the hands still steer me into greater places!
