I have a 2002 Ford SD 7.3. I receantly had new tires put on. 285/75/16's. When I went to get gas for the first time since the change I noticed after I filled up, the gas gauge only shows 3/4 full. Can any one explain this. Also added a K&N filter the same day, but I would not think that would have any affect. I have 4in exst from the turbo back, diablo chip, and all the gauges but I donot notice anything weird with them. Can anyone help?
When my 1999 F-250 was new, the guage only filled to 3/4 full. A trip back the dealer fixed that.
However, I have noticed a big difference in tank capacity depending on how level the truck is sitting. I carry a 600lb gang box of tools in back. When I had it on the driver's side, the gas nozzle would click off about 4 gallons earlier than when I had the gang box on the passenger side. I know this because I'm one of those who still "top off" the tank, to get the most miles before I have to stop again!
Find a gas station whose drive is tilted away from the pumps, even just an inch or so, and you'll be able to fill the truck a lot quicker!
Hint to gas station owners: pour your concrete with a nice tilt away from the pumps - you'll sell much more fuel!!
