From the TDR57 article, it hasnt been removed. Maybe in the next batches or CK-4 version. No CK-4 isnt out yet but probably coming, it will have no additives and just kill engines......friggin hippies.
Man this sounds like a way for the fat cats to make more money to me. Now we won't add the additive because it is too expensive and because we have to meet guidelines. So here it is in a "cheap" bottle form. Required with EVERY oil change or buy a new engine! SHEESH!
The Ford diesels are all roller cam engines. So we shouldn't see any problems with the low ZDDP oils the bigger problem we are seeing is wear on our injection systems from ultra low sulfur diesel. Any Flat tappet engines are going to see issues. You will have to add ZDDP to the engines especially when the cams are new as in a rebuild. The tree huggers / do gooders are going to push us all to an early grave via starvation.
any CI-4 15W40 is high in zinc. some of the CJ-4's are low but not too bad. The zinc additives are out there some made by edelbrock and some by others. Your mechanics will tell you lots of things but do what you believe. If you want to run moly additives like i do, do that. zinc additives, do that. But dont listen to the goober mechanics that only know modern vehicles that "dont need such additives" like i get told all the time. My engine is quieter and runs cooler with the moly additive. less wear and tear and a bonded surface capable of hyper intense pressures. yeah i like that.
