Zinc Additive in my 352's oil?

I have been running an oil additive called ZDDP in my old 292 Y-block since it has solid lifters and today's oil doesn't have as much zinc in it. Do the FE motors have solid lifters? Does anyone think I should run zinc additive in my '65 352? I run 15W40 ROTELLA T in both of my engines.

FE engines used both solid and hydraulic lifters. Rislone has a new ZDDP Zinc Phosphorus additive just for the older engines like the FE's. You replace one quart of your oil with the Rislone Oil Supplement and it will put the ZDDP levels back at the original levels even with today's oils. I think it is available at Advance Auto Parts and maybe some other stores.

Yes, use the additive. Solid or hydraulic doesn't matter. Its whether its a flat tappet or roller tappet cam that matters. FE's are flat tappet so you need the additive.
