Okay fellas, after manny hours of starring at my truck, turbo failing, doing what seemed
To be a pointless pressure test on my heads, and swapping my injectors one last time, I've seem no improvement in the way my truck runs. Oh well I guess! I'm still thinking the injectors have some wear but with it weighing 9100lbs, 285/75-16 mt's, and 3:73 gears maybe this is all she'll do. A 0-60 in 16sec and a 0-80 in 36 sec. 10 mpg mixed driving and 13.5 highway. Egt's stay around 900 crusing and 1150 wot. 2800 psi on stock tunes for wot runs and 37% dc. With tunes 17-1800 psi wot and 85% and higher dc. Right now the truck has intake, exaust, OCR, and dp tuner left in stock most of the time. Still can't haul my tractor in od, not near enough *****! (Guess I need a Ferd Fteenthousand)
Would ac codes and a 38r get me closer to being a decent towing truck? Guess I'm just rambling. Thought some of you might want to know what's up!
I get 10-11city pulling my 4-5k trailer w 305/55/20s w 3.73. My truck weighs 7700 how is yours that much heavier?
Yea I scalled my truck a
Couple of days ago and it weighed 9100lbs with a full tank of diesel and me in it! Supprised me. I guess the weight I was going with before was probly without a bumper or two and definatly without the headache rack. I'm really leaning towards stage 1 new AC codes and a 38R! Hopefully it'll make a $3000 dollar difference! Lol
I still think something is wrong somewhere...
I would drop anoher engine in her...if nothing else you can freshen up the original, and start adding all of the goodies that you want as money permits, and have it ready to drop in at for RRE 2012.
Having read through this thread I have some questions and observations:
-on the 0-80 run you held about 20psi, steady, and got up to 1100 degrees. If you've got pressure and heat the engine is getting air to the turbo and enough fuel in the cylinders. Is that right?
-now flow after the spider is a question. Any chance you could have a rag between the spider and the intake boots? I see they've been changed to the aftermarket boots and that would allow pressure at the spider but decreased airflow making it defuel because there's not enough air to cool the charge. Sound possible?
-otherwise nothing else makes sense since you are getting fuel/EGT. If you weren't getting any EGT increases, decreased fueling would be possible.
I have a customers truck that fits your situation (Bulla) exactly (his is a 2000 Ex. cab SB, so it weighs alot less) but it is gutless, I have scanned it with AE and everything checks out. I noticed you mentioned a chip/tuner on your truck before you bought it, Do you know what kind? and if it was a tuner, was it removed properly? What I am getting at here, is that maybe you have a corrupted PCM?..... Have you tried swapping it out with another? 1 more question, Have you checked your fuel pressure?
And lastly, It is not normal to take 37sec 0-80, it is not normal to get 10 mpg, and 900 deg EGTs cruising is not normal either.....
I've swapped PCM and idm's with another truck with no change! I've also just had all the intake off and there is nothing in it. One question Jon has brought up is my icp and pyro all read from the ds and we wonder what's going on the ps?
David,
Is by chance your EBPV still on your truck and still hooked up? If so and if it is closing up some (not all the way) it could explain some of this, High EGTs and Sluggishness. But then again I may just be talkin out my a$$. And what about your wastgate opening early?
Check this out! My pressure goes to 3000psi then after a few sec drops almost 500 psi! It's not when it shifts, cause once it shifts the pressure goes back up then eventually back down.

Can anyone tell me if what I'm looking at is normal? Seems like I've seen other trucks do wot runs and the pressure doesn't drop but that's reading off the icp. Am I missing something with the mechanical gauge? I hate being a pest!
Bulla, Since your Hpop gauge is dipping down like that, could that mean that you have a blockage? And also this would cause a lack of fuel pressure over your injectors too correct? Could this be caused by an IPR?
LOL Im just throwing out some stuff my mechanic said.
