What kind of phone do you have? The only phone I've had that worked with sync to read text messages was a Droid 2. None of the iPhone versions will work with text messaging.
Its a new Blackberry Curve with all the bells and whistles. The Bluetooth synchs up and the phone, weather, stock quotes, and directions work nicely. but the "read text message" command does not work.
I don’t believe it's compatible with text messaging. I’ve had several Blackberries and none of them did text messaging. My last blackberry, the Verizon Bold, would not. Everything else works fine…phone calls, streaming music, etc. It’s an issue with the version of Bluetooth that’s on the phone—not a problem with Sync. The phone itself does not notify Sync of text messages.
Even worse, when the iPhone is paired with sync, I cannot hear ANY notifications unless I’m actually streaming music from my iPhone…which I never do. Sync will notify me of an incoming call, but no sounds at all for texts or emails. Very annoying. At least the Blackberries don’t behave like this, so you’ve got that going for you.
Here’s a list of phones compatible with Sync, but I don’t think it’s been updated for a while. They are not very good at keeping up with new phone releases.
Possibly. It depends on the year of your truck. There hasn’t been a new update for 2010 and earlier sync since last summer. It looks like they’ve just kind of quit working on that version and have started concentrating on the mytouch or whatever it’s called for the newer radios. Go over to syncmyride.com and register if you haven’t already. By doing so, you can tell if there’s an update available, download the update, etc. You can also check out their forums. You might find some info on the latest BB Curve there too. Do a forum search for the model number of your Curve.
