Has anyone been able to get there i-Phone to work with the Microsoft Sync System for Bluetooth Text messaging? Is there an app for this? Any help would be great
Do you mean read received text messages aloud? Or respond with the SYNC default replies (like "Thank you" and "I love you")? Or do you mean you can't connect via BT at all?
The Sync systems says my phone doesn't support the bluetooth text messaging when I try to connect the to. I did a quick search on google and people seem to be saying something about not having MAP (Message Acces Profile) on the iphones.
I am able to get my voice calls through the system and get my call history and recent calls to all upload the minute in sit down in my truck.
Any suggestions on how to get my iPhone and Synce to play nice?
There is a Sync webpage that indicates which phones are text message compatible, but there are almost no smart phones on that list (e.g. iPhone and Android).
Most are Motorola phones with a smattering of Nokia and Samsung phones...
It has to do with the SMS messaging protocol over BT. Sync use BlueTooths' Message Access Profile specification which Apple's iPhone does not support at this time.
That feature does work with my Motorola Droid Razr. I tried it for a awhile but after a few friends said some bad words I didn't like the kids hearing the text! Kind of funny. I don't have it on now. You have to delete each individual text from the truck. Even if you delete it using your phone, it doesn't synch up and simultaneously delete it from the truck.
Never thought of that! You make a really good point with the "Bad words". My first is on its way in the middle of May! I guess I should of thought about that! haha
I use Vlingo on my galaxy sII and iPad. it reads out texts via BT and I use the speech to text feature of it if I want to send a text or make a call. I also used it with my old crapberry
