So after updating Sync in my Super Duty the system no longer receives text messages on the stereo. Before the update if I was paying attention I could hit a button on the screen and the stereo would speak the text message. Now all I get is my phone is not blue tooth compatible with the system. WTH? Anyone else have this happen and can I be fixed?
What phone do you have? I have never been able to get text messages in my truck. I sat down with the Ford tech and went through it step by step. Un-paired and re-paired my phone and still no luck. I have an iphone 4s. The tech's final response is that it doesn't work with all phones. He also said that there was a change in how the system works from the 11/12's to the 13/14's. Something about the newer systems being software based vs the older systems being hardware based. Not sure what that ment. He also said that the older systems being hardware based were quicker to respond to commands.

There has been some confusion in the past as to why a phone might occasionally render a feature even though it's not listed as compatible. The list classifies a device as compatible after passing several tests to prove that a feature can function reliably and consistently.
7sixpack7, if you find that your phone should fully support text messages, then we can take some troubleshooting a few steps forward - but we would need more details about the phone you're using.

Now they say I have to take it in and my dealer who also could not solve problem will have to work with technician from factory? Goes in tomorrow. Phone is Blackberry.
