The chrome is a lock strip .. Its easier to remove the glass (5mins) than it is to try removing the strip . You will need the rubber too for the other truck .. put the chrome in the rubber first if need be, (it should still be in the gasket after removal of the W/S), put the rubber on the glass & use a rope to install the glass ...
The windshield & windshield gaskets on both trucks are bad. I am taking the chrome windshield trim from the parts truck an putting it in mine which did not come with it. The parts truck is a 73 F100 reg. cab short bed Ranger XLT 2wd & mine is a 74 F250 Crew cab short bed Custom 2wd. I am using everything I can from the parts truck on my truck.

Smart man. Save what you can, replace what you can't.
The Carpenter part number is D3TZ-1003110-E
Cost $110.00 I think it was delivered in about a week.
I've ordered a few things from this site and found the bigger more substantial items have been good quality with no problems...
however, the gas cap I ordered was a FRAM cap...not a Ford cap...that didn't match the design which I returned with no problem but the left and right vent window handles were in packages marked left and right but both right handed. Too small of an item to mess with sending back.
I was re-reading and I came across this, so I'm double posting because it's late and I'm tired, but want an answer haha. Bare with my arrogance please.
Rick, did you order the gas caps that lock, or were you trying to order just a regular OEM cap (but ended up not getting what you wanted)?
I've been looking into getting a locking gas cap just because these old beasts are easy to tamper with... and I hate kids my own age...
Bunch of tards if you ask me because they weren't disciplined like I was on the fact that if something isn't yours... DONT TOUCH IT. Damn city kids and their music...
Anywho, what's the verdict on which gas cap you got? for a single post!
