Thanks seems like it is taking to long to get to this point.

up date the truck is now moving under its own power. I put the transfercase into 2hi and removed the shifter. This is so that I can shift the trans with the 2wd shifter. Ford and their silly little games. Installed the $20 pull and save seat. So what if it is dark blue it should last for a few years and then when the truck is redone it will get redone too. Engine is complete as far as that goes. My son likes the black wheels and narrow white walls. Kind of reminds me off the early to late 60s before white letter tires and custom wheels came along. Lots of kids did this to mom and dads car on a Friday or Sat night to go crusin.

Now it needs a complete brake job as all 4 corners are metal to metal. This truck was used up. Headlights and parklights all work. Didnt get to the taillights as it started to rain. Im stoked it even looks like a truck again. Oh the seat is out of a 72 ford. Once its got good breaks and liecensed I can take it to the muffler man. I dont think the populace wants me driving around with open headers. I dont see a problem but others might.

It's looking good and you are getting so close to the finish line on it!! Hopefully someday my disaster of a project will be to the point you've got yours!

Hopefully the brake job goes smoothly for you. Exhaust? who needs exhaust! No exhaust is a safety device. If they can't see you coming they will definitely hear you!

I like the looks of the narrow white wall tire. But I personally prefer a little more aggressive tread design on a 4x4.

When I started I wasnt sure it would all come together. And wondered what did I get myself into. Now that I see it sitting there pretty much all together. I am sure it was all worth it. The true finish line is when it gets a complete frame off and that is all done. This line will do for now. It probably will never see much road time anymore but I plan to use it when I can and maybe put it in some local show and shines so that the guys with all the pretty new 4x4s will get an appreciation for where their trucks came from. You are right if I could find two more of the 16" 5 lug wheels I would put it on those with some aggresive tires at all 4 corners. I know they are out there just have to find them. If I cant find them I may stay with the 15s with some early Bronco wheel covers I always liked the looks of those on these trucks.

Just an interesting link I thought I would add.

Well I'm very impressed with what you have accomplished on that truck. You should be proud, you brought it back to life.

I've got one 16" 5 lug rim. I believe it came off a 40 Ford so it may be a little too narrow for your truck. It still has the tire on it. I need to pull the tire to make sure the rim isn't rotted.

The link you posted is a cool site. Lots of good info!

Thanks Ted yup just couldnt part it out. That wheel you have is going to be too narrow. Later ones are 5 to 5.50 wide. Almost makes me wish I hadnt found the other 3 so easy. Just have to be persistant.

ok, i have been thinking on this, and you might have to give a history lesson to a young gun. I understand "before white letter tires and custom rims" but what was the deal with black rims vs. stock?

Well your talking to an older pistol. So some of the gray matter might have died away. Seems that alot of the steel wheels were the same color as the car. If tutone one of the matching colors under full wheel covers. Just didnt have the same sleek look that a black wheel did. You just couldnt get a custom wheel on every corner. You had to visit a speed shop. They were very expensive. Usually beyond a young persons budget. If you watch some vintage drag racing footage on youtube you will see what I am talking about. Thats the way I saw it maybe some other old timers that lived it might have a different take. Oh yeah when mag wheels did start to take hold there were only a few manufactures to chose from. Craiger, Kelsey Hayes , Anson and a few others. Not the plethora of brands out there today.

Edit oh yeah thought of a few other wheel makers Fenton and Keystone...

I thought my rim would be too narrow. But I'll keep my eyes open and if I run across any I'll let you know. I think I might also have a couple rims off a late 40's/50's ****** pick up. I'll have to check them out and see how wide they are. I think they have the same bolt pattern and were 16".

ok, makes sense, when I first got my falcon it still had a green rim on it. (too bad the rest of the car wasn't) I love green, green rim though, not so much. I probably would have done the same.

Maiden voyage. I didnt drive very far as there are no plates, exhaust system and very little braking power.

Who knows the last time this old slick did that? Wish I did but I will probably never know.

Thanks Ted

Still have a few odds and ends to tie up but shake down one block cruise shows everything seems to work. Yup I was being nice in the vids as to not disturb the neighbors it could have been better but keeping the peace. No fun in that. Yup I love that sound too. To bad I have to bottle it up a little. Going to try and take exhaust to just infront of the rear axle or just ing back not sure yet. Ill have to discuss that with the exhaust guy. Its getting pretty cold here now so have to get the garage insulated so I can get going again on the 63.

Your truck looks awesome, gotta love vintage iron. For sitting in the corner of your garage for 23 years that 352 has a healthy rumble. Gotta love the FE's. Subscribed and looking forward to the end result.
