86 f150 box

I just bought a 86 F150 stepside, 300 six, 3 spd with overdrive. It came with an extra set of rear fenders that I don't need. what I am looking for is box sides. Are these the same as the older stepside boxes?

I believe the fenders are not reproduced by anyone so you might want to hang onto them just in case. The bed sides I think LMC Truck sells they.

I just got a LMC cat., there isn't much in the way of parts for stepside boxes, thats why I was wondering if the box sides from the late 60s early 70s might be the same.

The earlier stepside bed sides may be similar, but the fenders are very different, as are the fender mounting bolt locations. If they measure the same length/hieght, you may be able to modify them to work, but they won't be a simple direct fit swap.

You might have to go into the 70's Forum and ask for some pictures and measurements.

I tried to talk to lmc to find out, they have no tech. support, if the earlier ones would fit, I could weld up and redrill fender bolt holes, so that wouldn't be a problem. Thanks

Personally, I'm watching my local JY. If one comes in I'm grabbing the whole bed.

NDP has one side.

The 70s sides are different, more than just bolt location.(if it was that easy it would have been done or they would make the sides so you drill the holes for your app) The sides are different as well

Can you specify what is different? If I am remembering correctly, the top rail on the 79 down was at a ~45* angle, while the 80-86 was 90*, from the bed side. Could be more difference as well, but I have never really paid much attention to them, since I never liked the looks of the older stepsides. Fenders were mounted too high, in my opinion, and left a rather large gap between fender and tire. Looked rather awkward, to me.
