I know a fellow with an 87. There is a gap between the bottom of the tailgate and the bumper. What is it that is used to cover the gap. I had an 81 and seem to recall a rubber piece or something similar that filled this gap. I believe he has the stock bumper. I just don't remember seeing the gap between the tailgate and the bumper being open.
My 90 has a plastic filler piece in the gap, I still thinks it looks crappy. I am trying to figure out how to raise the bumper a few inches
I did that to mine. I drilled holes in the bumper below the existing mounting holes and raised the bumper. I also put shorter cables on the tailgate so it doesn't drop down as far when you open it. In this pic the bumper is a little crooked because I backed into something. I have it straightened out now but I haven't taken any pictures since.
I love broncos to death but the gap between the tailgate and the bumper has always driven me crazy. The gap kind of makes it look like it has a body lift.
How far up did you raise the bumper?? And how far does the gate open?? I still haul some stuff (camping crap) in the back so It needs to open to load up. I like the look with the bumper raised
