Bronco style rear bumper ???

We put the bronco style rear bumper on Josh's 79 and it looks great but there is a gap between the bumper and the bed. When i was up at Bloomsburg truck show i saw a bronco and it had a filler panel between the bumper and the bed. Is that only a bronco thing or can i get that piece for a pick-up as well?

I dont have your answer but there is a green 77.5 F-250 out my way that is usually at all the truck pulls. He runs a Bronco rear bumper then has the receiver tucked way under the truck (gives a pulling advantage). I thought it looked pretty good myself and considered copying his set up. I also have a green 77. He would probably be like WTF if I showed up to a a pull with the same truck as him!
On my local craigslist there is a guy selling brand new front and rear bumpers for an 78/79 Bronco. I really didn't want the 78/79 front bumper on my 77 though.
Do you happen to have a pic to jog my memory?

My Bronco has the filler panel between the bumper. I have only seen them on Broncos but Im not sure if they only came on Broncos. Should be able to make it fit the truck.

Do you happen to have a pic? I'm not familiar with this filler panel.

That bumper is not just for Broncos. It also was an option on the F-series.

The first year that style of bumper, (Rear Contour) was used was in 1964, if I recall correctly.

It was changed slightly in 1973 when the frame width made it nessecery to move the mounting holes in the bumper.

The first year they were used on Broncos was 1978.

The last years they were used was with the 1980-1986 models.

There is no Stone Deflector, "filler panel" with the pickup application. The filler panel was only used on Broncos.

What kind of brackets did you need to make that fit on there? I am looking at putting that bumper on my 77 f150, which originally had the step bumper.........so can I use those brackets on that style bumper? Or do I need to purchase separate brackets?

You'll need to find and purchase the correct brackets for the truck. The step bumper brackets or the Bronco brackets are not correct for the trucks. The bumpers are the same but they use different brackets. Seems like the truck brackets are getting real hard to find anymore. I have seen them on E-Bay before but they go for a pretty good price too. Good Luck!! -Ed

I ended up getting them from a friend of mine that was going in a different direction with his truck. they are VERY HARD to find. The brackets them selves i have seen sold for over $150. And as stated above, there are bronco brackets and pickup brackets, make sure you get pick up ones

C4TZ17906B .. Chrome Styleside Contoured Rear Bumper / Obsolete/Reproduced By Dennis Carpenter.

Fits: 1964/66 F100/250 2WD / 1966 F100 4WD / 1967/72 F100/350 / 1973/77 F250 4WD 33 1/2" frame rails (except 1977 non High Boys) / 1973/79 F350's on the 140" wheelbase w/33 1/2" rear frame rails.

The brackets used with this bumper thru 1972 are the same. But, the brackets are different for 1973/79's, even though the rear frame rails are the same (33 1/2") distance apart as 1964/72's.

There was also a painted version of this bumper used on 1964/72's (C4TZ17906A).

The C4TZ17906B rear bumper was not used on any year Bronco.

Dad has that style bumper on his 77, he ordered it that way back in 76. The bracket are totally different but I think you could use the front bumper frame section and then bolt that to the step bumper mounts, it would also allow you to raise or lower the bumper for what ever typr of look you want. It would take some modifying but would look good once completed.

if you can't build a set of bumper brackets, I'm not sure you should be allowed to own a pick up. lol. they are far from rocket science.
