I've been working on my 73 F100, getting things fixed here and there, and I'm on to working on things on the front of the truck. I was looking at it earlier today, and noticed that the bumper height seems to be pretty decently off. The passenger side of the bumper is about half an inch to an inch lower than the driver's side. There is a gap between the inside top of the bumper and the bottom part of the front grill, where it goes under the bumper on the driver's side...on the passenger's side, there is no gap--the bumper is riding on the part of the grill that goes under the bumper. Is there an adjustment that I can make that I don't know about?
On half-tons, there is no adjustment because the bumper mounts directly to the frame horns. IIRC, some F250/350s have brackets between the bumper and the frame.
Are you sure it's the bumper? I mean, the fenders and core support rest on body mounts. Have you measured other points to confirm it is indeed the bumper that is askew?
I haven't measured other places yet, I don't really have a truly level spot to set it up on so I can get accurate measurements. I just know that the passenger side of the bumper looks lower than the driver's side, and there's no clearance between the bottom lip of the grill on that side, but there is a gap on the driver's side.
Any suggestions on where I should look for issues beside the bumper being possibly bent or "off"?
