406 6v heads

I have a beater 66 f-100 . Its real ugly!!! Last winter I built a new solid lifter(isky) 390 to swap into her. The guy who was helping with the build was all gaga over the heads I had. Now a year later I looked up the casting numbers and find I have 406 6V heads on my 390. I am using a cast iron 4v intake with headers and she is a hoot even with 300:1 ring and pinion! The heads were only produced for about a year from what I can find, 62-63. Did I win the FE lottery here? Or are these not that special?

This is from a Paul Herd Ford car parts interchange manual. No listing that I could find with a C at the end.

C3AE 6090C what I have shows late 63 406 6V - has spring seat cups. Shows smallest combustion chamber of all the performance fe heads. 56.4-61cc

seems our books are at odds with chamber size 427fordman

Edit: a little more searching and find that most people have found them to have 1.65" exh valves from the factory. Just the larger exh. valve no change to the intake. There are also 390 C3AE-C heads that have no seat cups, smaller 1.55 valves, and large chambers. This from FFR428 on another site but it's the same guy here.

Ya they do differ, real shocker.. Mine shows the C3AE 6090 D (427 head) is 64-67 but the C is 56.4-61. Also shows another 406 head is C2SE 6090 C and its 64-67 and the first 406 head is C2SE 6090 B at 62.6-64.6. Beats me. Whatever, he has a good set of heads.
