I'm not 100% sure but it sounds like you're saying an intercooler somehow feeds cool air INTO the turbo. Just to clarify for anybody unsure of what an intercooler does: compressed hot air exits the turbo compressor into the intercooler through piping where it is cooled. The cooler denser charge air leaves the intercooler and is piped into the intake plenums. simple as that.
Actually for those who don't know what the intercooler does, it cools the air that is super heated by the turbo. The cooled air is more dense so more fits into the cylinder for compression. Also, the cooler air has more oxygen which makes for more efficient cumbustion, making more power. Know for the part I don't understand. Why do the powerstrokes have the spider? The big diesels push the air out of the turbo, through the heat exchanger, into the intake. Will that work ok on our engines?
Yes, our engines work just like the big diesels and thats exactly what the spider on a super duty 7.3 or an International t444e does. Hot air out the turbo through the intercooler and then split between the two intake plenums. Looking at the spider on a superduty might make you think otherwise but it's not just one big junction kind of thing.
