side mirror replacement

I just recently purchased another 97 F350 and this time around it is an xlt, well it has the power mirrors and I hate the way they look and can't see anything with them.Has anybody ever replaced these with the door mount style mirrors and is it a direct replacement or are there gonna be gaps or anything I should know about before attempting this? I know I have to drill out the door but that doesn't worry me,I'm just wondering about where the old power ones bolt on to if I will run into a problem there. Thanks in advance.

You wanting these?

Or the regular swing away ones?

Anyhow, they are located at the same place, but the black plastic power ones mouth differently.

If you want the same mirrors you have on your blur truck it is a bolt on piece. You just need to drill the lower holes

I just want the regular swing away ones, not those big hideous ones like on that van. Thanks for the responses,I just wanted to make sure the top would match up.I had already planned on having to drill the door out.

Those are on my camper, I love 'em.

But for pick ups, it's either the big West coast ones or the regular swing aways

I went the opposite way with my 91. I replaced the swing away factory mirrors with the type you have. If the doors are mirror-specific, then you may have to drill new holes like I had to. You will also need to drill for rivinuts for the lower mounting point.

Do you already have the mirrors you want? If not, I'd be willing to make an even trade if you're willing.

The paddles mounting area doesnt line up with the swing aways, I measured not to long ago-paddles mounting area between bolts is longer iirc.

Yep. I swapped my swing aways for paddles a few months ago. Had to drill new holes for the paddles.
