68 Door Mirrors - Questions
Looking to replace the mirrors on my 68 longbed. Are these mirrors that are on there original? The ones shown in the LMC catalog for a 68 are the "sport" type mirrors.
Are there any aftermarket mirrors available that will mount in the same holes as these? Or, should I just get a set of the sport mirrors and bondo the extra holes?

^ Aftermarket (auto parts store) mirrors.
Ford introduced this style of "Low Mount Swing-Lock" mirror in 1973, but this mirror is not a genuine Ford Swing-Lock type.
The mounting brackets are different, there is no round device between the upper bracket and arm that allows the mirror to lock in place.

LMC's 'sport' mirror (FoMoCo never called it that!) was the standard equipment 'passenger car' type. Left side was standard equipment, right side was optional.
This mirror was placed inside the cab at final assembly. No mirrors were factory installed, as the dealers installed all the outside mirrors.
There were two types of optional high mount mirrors.
1) 'Swing Lock' type: One mounting bracket located above the vent window on door frame, one located below the vent window.
2) The other type was not a 'Swing Lock' as it had a 3rd 'steady rest' arm mounted on the front edge of the door. It was part of the Camper Special package, optional on others.
This mirror stuck out well past the cab.
