I took the GPR numbers off the thread on here and they did not work on a '97 PSD. Part # NAPA GPR-109 or the match up Autozone MR99 do not work. What did I misunderstand or do wrong? The difference in $$ is dramatic between these parts and the one that they show for these trucks.

Are you saying you took those numbers to napa and autozone and asked if the fit ur 97? or actually bought one and tried to put it one ur 97?
If its the first one i asked, then yea they will tell u that the gpr109 wont fit ur truck and that its made for something else and try and sell u one thats double the price or more. to the second quest., the gpr109 does fit if u turn it 90 degrees on where it sits, and usually cost 30 bucks.
No , no I bought the part and installed it but it will not work. The contact does not pull in with the audible sound nor does it check out with a test light. On my '95 and '96 with key off you have power on 0ne (1) large battery stud. Turn switch on and the contact pulls in, power jumps to other large terminal till it times out. On the control terminals you have current on one till the time out then while you lose power on the large terminal you gain power across both small ones. The GPR-109 or actually the NAPA store did not have one but Federated said the GP7 was the same. This one the two control terminals stay powered through out and the large terms never cross. Were they wrong that these numbers don't cross? Two different stores said they were the cross.
GP7? never heard of it. i know of the gpr109 and gpr110 from napa and the stancor gpr online but not the gpr7. it may or may not be the right gpr idk if the numbers cross or not, if its not maybe thats why its not pulling power. when you say no audible your talking about the double click of the gpr engaging right?
The one is a Standard RY175 and the said it would cross, my friend has the other one in the '97 and both said in small print GPR7. No clicks.
Hmm well if they said it would cross then it might. Is your friends truck acting the same as yours. And no clicks means no engaging of the gpr, u probably know when u turn the key u should hear two simotanious clicks of the gpr engaging.
Took back the "Standard" parts cross ref GPR 109 and got a refund. Went to Autozone and got their version. The Standard X would not pull in the contact and the Autozone would not time out after more than three minutes. It was getting pretty hot when I turned her off. What is going on with these things? I was going to pick up the actual NAPA part and try it with my test set up, but the gal said "if you hook up the electrical connection you can't bring it back." All supply houses have the '90-'01 aprox. $75.00. These parts (GPR-109 cross) they tell me are for '83-'90, but my '83 6.9 don't behave like this. I'm confused, which is not hard to do these days, are these parts computers off? I mean I don't want a relay on my '83 that either won't turn on or off, so why would I put it on a '94 1/2-'01?
Yes, I hooked them up like the old ones and, had the '95,'96 to go by. (?) I don't know, I ran short on time today but will try again soon, maybe I can get them to spin the console around so I can watch. Thanks to all. This reminds me off the time, just a few months ago, when my son ran through seven (7) alternators from Autozone and Advance in two months, I was with him when we went through 4 of them in one night. The Chinese are going to get us by knocking out our Diesel trucks first!
I know ur looking for a standard gpr but have u thought about the stancor relay? i sits kinda funny but hooks right up and is 10x better than any napa or autozone relay. just a thought, would solve all ur relay problems for 5-6 years compared to the usual 2 yr life of a gpr109.
I just picked up the GPR109 from NAPA last week. 90* off as per usual, but works fine. And just like Blake said, I go about 2 years out of the old one. Think I'll pick up a stancor for next winter...
