puttin some long tube headers on my 02 f150 but the headers dont have bolt on flanges to bold to the existing exhaust, they are just slip on. i would like to be able to take the headers if need to with out haveing the grind the welds off or cutting the pipe. is there a way to put a flange on it or something like that? i was thankin just regular exhaust clamps but the exhaust shop said the would loosin up from the vibrations.
thanks i found some 3 bolt collector flange reducers i can use but my question is that my truck has 4 o2 sensors. the headers i got one o2 sensor bung each. the 3 bolt collector flanges also have an o2 sensor bung. so dose it matter how far apart the o2 sensors are?
You don't have any resonators.
You have 4 cats.
I have mine set up like your talking about, just headers and one high flow cat on each side.
Put the downstream o2s as close as you can behind the cat.
The problem is, you are trying to gain maximum performance, just be advised that most high flow cats are not, and most will offer no benefits over the stock ones. Some are a little louder because they are smaller, but they do not flow correctly. When you select a high flow cat, do some research in advance to find out what is what.
Also be advised that if your clamp leaks, it can trigger codes and produce incorrect sensor readings.
im ready to put my headers in this weekend. but i have to dive the truck to the exhaust shop to get the rest of the piping done. will it harm my truck at all if i run open headers for a few miles? i know the check engine light will come on cuz of the o2 sensors
