Mercon is being discontinued? Isn't that what the C6 takes also?
so iv read.
however i sure have no problem finding it still.
so perhaps there was enough demand for it,and that info iv read back along is obsolete now.
these were all old posts that various people where claiming it was going to be discontinued.so i dunno man.
oh yeah thats right.
did ya add an external cooler yet or?
you plugged your trans sensor into the side test port right? watch your gauge and try to keep her at 175 degree's there.
an external cooler and possibly with an electric fan may be required.
try to keep it below 200 degrees.pull right over if you need to and let her cool.add a cooler/fan where required to try and maintain 175 degrees is ideal.
if you can do that, then you wont have to flush the fluid until 30k miles.though since you tow such heavy loads with a trailer, its probably best you do stick with the 15k flush intervals anyway.
but even then, making sure at all costs, you keep the fluid at the pan under 200 degrees is important.
i have wonderful results using this one; Automatic Transmission SuperCooler rated at 13,000 BTU 11"x7-1/2"x3/4"
Nope didn't ever get the cooler cause I never got the gauge grounded correctly so that it worked. I just took the truck on a 20min. drive and she only got up too like 150. I might need one but I'll have to see how high I get when I work it. I didn't end up doing the flush cause I needed it and extra people weren't available today. I can do a flush anytime correct? I called the shop that swapped my tranny and they said the oil I was putting in was compatible with the stuff they did so I'll be fine until the flush I guess(the fluid looked so dang red and clean - I felt bad draining it, lol.)
yeah.well by the time it already looks bad, your too late.
we change the oil in engines before that appears bad.same thing.
since you didn't have a temp gauge on it,you'll want to flush it now at 15k severe flush interval.but i wouldn't worry about it for a few more miles or anything no.
call your local DOT office and ask about burning red atf.filter it,and run it 50/50 with diesel.

Yeah, I know what you mean, I'll probably get to it when I do the coolant flush, I still have to get the right coolant in her too. She runs good though, I found out today I have a deep transmission pan and not the shallow one - thats always nice.

Yeah, no problems running ATF in your fuel. I had some ATF from a power steering flush I did on my car and I just dumped it in the next time I fueled up. It ran just fine. It was only about 2 liters. I filtered it through some coffee filters but it was pretty clean to begin with. I ran out of Diesel Kleen today but I had some new ATF left over, so I dumped in maybe a half a quart to add a little lubricity.
When I get a centrifuge, I plan on running an 80% UMO/UATF and 20% gasoline. I have heard people get good results with that combination. The cost of a centrifuge is steep but given time, it can be offset and paid for if you filter your own oil for fuel.
