how many problems besides not having the overdrive will I run into switching my 96 f350 4x4 e4od for a 91 f350 c6 4x4 trans , will everything still work ? thanks for the help
If it's a gas job, I think there is only 1 computer to operate both engine and trans. So removing it or missing a part wouldn't do it any good. I've some of some still running fine, other than having a check engine light on and millions of codes.
You'll need a transmission off another engine same size as yours (big block or small block bolt patern.
(300 6cyl, 302 and 351 are all 1 bolt patern. 400, 429 and 460 is the big block bolt patern)
Diesels have a unique patern.
You'll also need a new driveshaft and tranny cross member, or modify yours.
You could get ECU for a truck with same engine and a manual trans, that should take care of the CEL and code issue. From there its a matter of making everything hook up.
