My cd player was working fine yesterday. I had to disconnect my battery to work on the starter. When I reconnected the battery my cd player doesn't work. The buttons light up and blink to what seems to be some sort of pattern. blink blink blink, pause, blink blink, pause, repeat. Any ideas on what could have blown? What fuses to check, etc? The cd player is a Kenwood Cd-Mp3 player. I tried using the reset button anc checked the fuse on the back of the deck. Also, tried disconnecting the deck then reconnecting. This is in a 93 Bronco Custom. Thanks for any advice.
Sounds to me like the CD player has locked itself. Some head units have a security function that disbales the player when it is disconnected from battery power. (Theft deterrent i guess) If you have the manual, i would check that to see if this is the case.
The unit would not power on(ie-no blinking lights at all) if the fuse was blown, so it is definately getting power.
Is there a cd in the unit? Try ejecting it if it will let you, and then disconnect/reconnect power. I once had a sony do this because it didnt reckognize the cd in the unit after the power loss, so it got confused.
If all else fails, contact Kenwood, or a Kenwood dealer and tell them the model number of the unit. They should be able to give you an answer as to whether that is just a security function and how to cure it.
I am almost certain it is not a security function. I moved it from one car to another 2 days ago, same cd in it, and it worked fine when it was in my Bronco until I took the battery out and put it back in.
