What passenger-side power steering line do you have? Mine are all on the driver's side.

Of course, as always, YMMV.

I should have been more specific. Mine are on the drivers side as well. Out of the two lines at the top near the firewall, the one that is to the passenger side is loose on mine, and leaking oil.

Is replacing the fuel filter bowl o-rings a common enough issue to warrant being on this list?

My vote is 'Yes' especially if somebody buys the truck without a known repair history.

Changed out my gp's over the summer, not my idea of fun (my first time changing them), thermostat and housing, and gp relay for the 2nd time. Printed out the thread and will work on the other things listed here as I can. Thanks for all the great information.

Yup. Where you live, glow plugs are a MUST!

However, given the number of these truck used on the North Slope, they must be OK for severe cold.

I'll never know.....

My truck had decided that it doesn't like cold. I did all eight glow plugs about a year ago, and it started and was happy all the time. I did the LED thing off the plug side of the relay, and sometimes it comes on, and sometimes it doesn't. If I pop the hood and use pliers to jump the relay, energizing the glow plugs, it's happy as heck. What is not telling the GPR to fire?

Will this help you?

Welcome to guzzle's White-Rodgers (Stancor) GPR replacement Mod Web Page

I use this. It will test your batteries/GPR and Alt at the same time.

Good thought, Les, on the volt meter. If the GPR is kicking in, you will see about a 2 volt drop (give or take) after turning on the ignition key and then a corresponding increase in voltage once the timer circuit turns the GPR off again.

The GPR will only kick in once in a while. Not every time.

First startup in the morning, though, is a guaranteed opportunity.

Whenever I'm not towing, I use my Prodigy 3 brake controller in "troubleshooting" mode, which gives me the battery voltage reading.

It's obvious when the GPR shuts off.
