I realize a huge recall on the 1995 4.9L F150 was the cruise control module catching on fire. Is there a way to check for recalls on my truck and once i know what they are if there is a way to check to see if they have been taken care of? My exact truck info without VIN for security reasons is its a 1995 F150 XLT, short bed single cab dual tank non flareside, 8.8 rear with 3.08 gears, EFI. 2WD. Please let me know asap as Ford dealer is shutting down near me.
Have you clicked the "recalls/tsbs" button at the top of the page? You can at least see what recalls your truck had.
I would guess Ford can type in your VIN and see if your truck had any work done on it by a Ford dealer.
Do a search on this site and maybe just in this forum. A few years ago I found a link in a thread to a site in which you type in your VIN number and it finds any recalls. I believe the site is run by Ford.
Look on the brake master cylinder for a wiring pigtail with a big blue label on it. Thats the fuseable link.
This is correct, as far as it goes. If your truck was brought in for the recall, and the switch was'nt leaking, it wouldv'e got the jumper harness with 2 fuses in it & the blue warning tag. If it WAS leaking, the it got a new switch installed. The eng.# on the old style switch is F3TA-9F924-CA. The new switch has an eng.# 3L3T-9F924-AB on it.
You should really go to your Ford dealer & have them check to see if the recall was done. Although rare, this CAN cause a fire.
I noticed mine start smoking and sizzling about a year and a half ago when I had the hood open to check the oil or something. I ripped the plug out with a screwdriver I had on me and drove it to the dealer. Turns out, it was under the recall, and they replaced it for me. Took about 10 minutes to get it all done. I was really lucky that it started while I was there looking at it. If I had already called it a day, my truck could have burned to the ground.
