excursion + squirrel = chewed wire harness

2002 Excursion w 7.3 PS
Squirrel made a nest and decided to eat at the wire harness located near the fuel filter. Currently have malfunctioning fuel guage needle , low fuel indicator light "lit" and fuel calculator display issues(will not recalculate fuel millage after addition of fuel but will reduce millage counter).
Is there anything located near the fuel filter that the squirrel could have damaged that would create issues with all 3 of the above listed indicators or is it just coincidental. I did have to replace a connector and some vacuum lines in the same location to clear a lit service engine indicator. Both issues started at the same time.
Any help is appreciated!

You may need to drive it more often. The heat generated would evacuate those darn critters.

beleive it or not it is a daily driver. Figured the squirrel exited the vehicle in the morning while waiting for the glow plug to warm. Had just been under the hood a month ago replacing the starter.
