Years ago, and even now...diesel engines had the tell tale puff of cc vapors under them, the equipment at my company is always venting underneath, now I don't need that staining my driveway, but anywhere else....I don't care, I'm venting mine to the outside...as for lubing the turbo, if the crew at garrett thought it needed it, they would've designed it that way....spritz your air filter if you feel it needs it, but screw that oily mess

Amen! If my turbo dies b/c there's no CC oil wafting by at hundreds of feet per minute, that will just give me a better excuse to buy a new GTX4202R and really have some fun.
I did it and I hated it - it STINKS. There is no measurable benefit. Even if you 100% eliminate this tiny amount of oil there will always be some in the CAC. Upgrade to Riffraff boots and CHECK for leaks and the 'oily boots' go away.
Besides, a little oil can't hurt the turbo and God forbid could trap some debris in the event of contaminated air!
Whats the point?????
The boots with a hole in them were not just because the OE boots 'aren't compatible' with oil - that claim was overblown by the first people selling 'aftermarket' boots. They are thin and more susceptible to wear than Clays boots though.
X2-Im with Jason on this one! I also had mine for about a year and got tired of the smell and constant smoke. I just unhooked mine and went back to the "stock" setup. I am thinking about getting in touch with Chris an seeing if he will build me a ccv trap so I can route the gasses thru it then back to the intake. I vote dont do it!!!!
if the crew at garrett thought it needed it, they would've designed it that way....
I guess you have a point but the crew at Ford "designed it" that way, along with putting the stock turbo that garrett designed on it probably knowing it was going it get misted with oil from the crank case.
Like someone said earlier, to each their own. I'm just saying I'm not 100% sold on flushing the intercooler (to do it right) and relocating the vent to avoid a little oil in the pipes. I'd rather spend the money on a different mod...

Did you remove CAC/IC? How did you 'flush it'?
I dunno how water could be in CAC - the air temp in there gets over 300* IIRC??
Anyway, I'd agree ya had some boost leakin' there!!! Fix them leaks and it'll never look like that again. The TINY LITTLE BIT of oil that will eventually migrate out of even Riffraff boots is soooooo easy to keep clean I wouldn't worry about even adding the oil trap.
Of course, I came from the K.I.S.S. school of thought when it comes to this stuff... Less is more.

im not sure but you can see it there in the pics // after removing the ic i poured half a jug purple power sloshed it around for awhile than ran water thru until clear than set on its side. (both ways) for a couple of days i had the time as i was doing alot of stuff at that time . so all fluid would come to the outlet then reinstalled i was expecting more but there was some in there.
I have the catch can from Raul on mine & I'll just leave it alone, does what it says it's supposed to do & still connected to the intake. Looks pretty much the same as the one Chris makes
