I got the template from another FTE member, but you could also get it from No Limit I think. these are engineering sized drawings, so require a special copier. I've sent out 10 copies I think over the years.. I don't know if the 53-56 will work on the 51-52 frame.. anyone else know??
thanks for the kind words.. I wouldn't have been able to do my build without the advice and suggestions of the talented folks here. I enjoy being able to be in such a group.
(the difference between brown nosing and as.s kissing is depth perception!..)
hey.. its a smallblock.. tin foil should work!.(jk) so this is WAY over engineered!..
if they had had to change the steering box, they would have had to pull the exhaust at least.. maybe the engine.. the linkage to the column was SO tight without moving the steering box there was at least 3/4 in extra spindle shaft.. no WAY to get to off.
I left the pitman arm on the box and lifted it out sort of like a corkscrew.
I did not box completely under the green truck. only partway back to the firewall, and only over the rear axle to support the C notches.
looking back 10 years, I could have.. I really wish I had used a gloss paint!..
yes, I am going to repair and box the front of the red truck chassis..
these are pretty small amounts of repair..
latest status pics. repaired frame cuts.. boxing plates tacked in.. lots of grinding and finish welding to do
(did I say I love my plasma cutter.. makes it simple to cut the 3/16 boxing material we have.. 6inx48in, cut from a 4x10 sheet)..
the suspension has not shipped from the vendor yet.. what a pain.. but I'm not ready for it yet either..
I think I have decided to swap engines on this one, take out the 351w/c4 stroker,
and put in a smallblock C**** efi engine with an OD, 700r4, tranny. I got them out of a wrecked 94 van last year. put a TPI intake on it, and some shiny front stuff.
have to replace the shifter, fuel line, gas tank, radiator anyhow.. add a/c.
Hey Sam,
Looks nice - What was your reasoning on swapping out the 351W? It looks like a nice engine - Just wondering as I have one of those in my '50. In looking at your frame in the front - a stupid question but it looks like you added an enormous metal support at the front of your frame or am I looking at it wrong?
