Co sign in what Sam said. I got mine off Amazon for $150 as far as I can remember. Seems like pretty good stuff. Enough to do the whole thing.

Charlie, I mixed up my hmls pretty thick and brushed it on. I made it almost a tooth paste consistency and did two thick coats. I covered every square inch of the cab. A tip, make the paint the same color your interior will be so if any of it shows through it won't be noticable.

I think I did a misread, the stuff I was talking about comes in heavy roll around three feet wide, no foil, and I think is use as a ice / snow protector under the roofing material at the rain gutter edge.

Good tip! I have used ceramic microspheres before but never for insulation...they are commonly used in fiberglass layups. When added to resin it becomes more like bondo and works well to fill in the tight corners where you can't get the mat to lay out nicely.

I have heard of Fatmat and they seem to be pretty well priced. Although if you do your research you can usually find that or Dynamat at a good rate. I did Dynamat in my truck on the roof, firewall, floor and only on some of the rear of the cab and some inside the door and cover panel.

Application was easy but just make sure you pre cut areas like the transmission cover, battery cover and what not if you plan on taking them out down the line. It's a major back to cut back through any insulation like that to get to those areas again!

I went on Craigslist and bought mine there from people who had extra from projects. Took me about two weeks but I had enough to do my whole truck for about 100 bucks!

I have used Second Skin Audio's damplifier on a Firebird with phenomenal results, and plan to do the same on my F100. I am going to also add their spectrum product as well this time.

I used dynamat in my 54 and it cost me about $140 for 36 square feet. That covered my floor as well as the roof panel. I like the dynamat because it acts as a thermal shield as well as a sound deadner.

i went to lowes website and looked at peel and seal. it is for roof flashing and there is a pic of a chimmney beside it. it is kind of funny if you look at the reviews because they were all 5 stars and both people that reviewed it had used it on vehicles for sound deadning.

Ive heard good things about Lizard Skin, I've never used it but aparently it goes on easy with a spray gun... But Its also a budget busting $150 For the stuff, then another $80 for the application gun.

TBSS110, you don't need to buy lizard skin, you can make it. Check hotrodders.com, the interior section, and search "alternative to lizard skin". It's basically exterior latex paint with glass micro ballons. Exterior paint is $15-20 a gallon, or ask about miss tint gallons that go cheap because the color is wrong. Micro ballons are available at wicks aircraft supply, mail order, at $8.25 per pound, plus ups. Part# b23/500-g, under fiberglass expoxies and composites. Read the thread, it'll answer lots of questions. You don't need an $80 gun, a pos harbor freight under coating gun works, or mix it thick and brush it on. There are cheaper ways of doing things...

$8.25 a pound is a good price....this stuff don't weigh anything, a pound is a lot of material by volume. Wicks has a $15 minimum order...I just ordered 2 Lbs, $16.50 and only $2.50 for S&H!

I just finished spraying Lizard Skin in the car that I'm building. I thought I could spray it with a HF undercoat gun, but I found out I could not. I got the gun they recommend and saw the difference. The HF gun has a 3/8" suction tube and the other gun has a 5/8" suction tube. I still had to thin it with 3 oz of water to get it to spray. They say you can use up to 8 oz of water if needed. Once I got it working, it went on very well. I put 3 coats on the roof, floor and firewall. Used 4 gals to do it.
I used it several years ago on the 50 F1 that I built. I brushed it on then. After doing this one, I definitely recommend spraying. I put 3 coats on the bottom of the cab and 3 on the inside floor and firewall. It made the truck a lot cooler and quieter. Seems to be good stuff, although pricey.
