quick question

can ya replace spider gears without replacing clutchpacks? someone told me its one of those things you have to replace once its out.

sorry for all the new threads. im trying my best to get my truck back on the road for as cheaply as possible, and using my phone on FTE makes it a pain to bump my own threads.

I should have posted a few days ago. Sorry. Yes, my gears chewed themselves apart at 165k. PUll th back, pulle the axles back, pull the gears out. When you get it down it's a piece of cake. The first time doing it you will be cursing Ford left and right XD You don't HAVE to replace the paks but take a look at them and determine if the material has worn or not. IMHO you should replace them if theres a good amount of wear. Also check to make sure the tabs are not bent and bugered up. That cost me a new unit a few years ago
