I had to replace the spring tower. It rusted almost in half. When I did I noticed the arm bracket had two holes rusted in it so I ordered a new one and tried taking the old one off. I put a 3/4 inch drive ratchet on it and the bolt twisted right off.
If your radius arm and coil buckets were rusted out that bad, I would take a long, hard look at the underside of that truck and look for other problem areas. You may have spring shackles, crossmembers, or parts of the frame about ready to fall off the truck and that could be deadly at 60 MPH.
