Tailgate latch repair/replacement

It's me again.

Can anyone explain, in detail, how to repair and replace the tailgate latch?

I recently purchased a parts truck (if you've read my "Cab replacement Issues" thread, I mention it there as well), and the tailgate is missing its latch, and the tailgate itself won't drop because of that.

that's weird, you're probably going to have to take a flat head screwdriver to either side of the tailgate where it joins to the bed, push the screwdriver until you slide the slider out of it's side hole, leave the screwdriver in and do the other side the same way, should lower then, to install the latch is easy if you have the two long metal rods, and the plastic clips for either end that connect to the latch, just bolt eveything back in, oh yeah on either side of the tailgate there will be the slider i talked of earlier, these have to be unbolted to hook everything back up sorry this is so long, hope it helps
