Battery relocation question

I'm getting ready to move my batteries to make room for the york air. Anyway the small ground wire on the drivers side battery is my question. Do I need to increase the size of it to extend it all the way to under the passengers door where the batts will be or will leaving it that size be ok. Here's a pic of it

Whats york air? Don't know much about relocating batts. I think the same wire size would be ok unless you are running a longer length. I think Neal has done the mod and has pics in his gallery.

Maybe I can just ground that wire somewhere else without taking it all the way to the battery.

It will be an on board air compressor. You're right, impacts, air up tires, etc.. Copying what TJ and Cutts did.

I braved the cold and went out to look at mine, that wire is just a little over a foot long and looks like it just gets grounded to the body. I think it would be fine to ground it to the body where you are relocating the battery's to.

I guess I should have looked closer then. I feel kinda stupid. Thanks richdawg. I'm a little laid up and a shop full of other stuff to get done first so just kinda planning right now.

Maybe another dumb question but if that cable just goes from the battery to the body and I move my batts along the frame should I connect a cable to the body or will grounding them both just to the frame be ok?

i would ground one to the motor because there wont be any major grounds that will be able to tolerate the starter motor's amperage

I would ground both batteries to the engine like they are now.

I would also bond the location that wire was in to the engine.
Your headlight/park/turn signal lights are grounded to the body close to where that wire was attached, possibly at that same screw.

Body panel connections do build up resistance over time as our friend corrosion shows it's ugly head.

So more grounds is never a bad idea.

I left that cable and wire as it is. I can't remember where the cable goes (Engine or frame) but I left it there and grounded my batteries to both the frame and the engine.

the original grounds go to the lower corner of the engine block easiest way to see them is from underneath the truck on each side by the crank pulley
