Cool Blow By

I am having trouble with a blowby problem. How can I rectuify the situation and relieve the blowby wothout having to spend a great deal of money? I already have spent over $3500 to replace the injectors and cleaning of the oil pumpand manifold screens So I don't want to spend too much more on it.

What makes you think you're getting "blowby?" Assuming you're talking about piston ring blow-by... You really need a leak-down test to check for blow-by. It's usually a ring problem but that's hard to swallow that that is your problem. Rings typically last a hell of a lot longer on diesels because the cylinder wall isn't getting washed like it would be in a gas engine.

There is a gauge that they use to check crankcase pressure that goes on the oil filler tube.

Yup, and you can rig up your own that connects to the dip-stick tube. Max pressure is 0.3 psig, so you will need a pressure/vacuum gauge (a cheap one will work OK, but a magnahelic is WAY better).

Hopefully the OP is just seeing some oil in the Turbo inlet tube - which is normal.

Would you then seal the PCV tube off before the test? How would you figure out which individual cylinder is suspect (maybe manually turning the engine over to cycle the valves)?

$3500 for injectors and some cleaning? You need to find a new mechanic. My magic 8-ball tells me that you are being taken for a ride.
