Broken door handle

I ripped off my door handle on the driver door interior side. Where can I find a good replacement?

Make sure you take off the part that it bolts to and see if the door is cracked where the bolt goes through. I explained how I fix those in another thread just in case. Any parts place should have the handle in the help section. Adjust the door striker and hinges too. They break for a reason.

I'm going to go ahead and tell you. You are gonna get real good at changing them now. I've broken 5 between 2 trucks in the last 2 years all in the winter. I don't think the dormans hold up as well in the cold. That's what all mine have been.

all 3 of my trucks broke at the door frame. The latch was still good but the bolt ripped through so I hit the frame metal flat and then mig welded the latch back in place on all 3 trucks and never had any other issues.

You are supposed to adjust the slack in the cable by bending the tap it attaches to on the door handle end. New cables are cheap too if it's really stretched or broken but more often than not the problem is a warped or cracked door where the handle bolts to it. Also people using the wrong lubricants on the latch screws them up. I wouldn't use anything wet, like grease or oil. It just attracts dirt and gets in the lock motor causing problems. use graphite spray or something that dries completely.

If it's wet then it will attract dirt and there is no good way to clean it without taking the door completely apart. Dirt is what tears these doors up. In the army we were only allowed to use graphite and I never saw a loose door on any of our trucks. Some of them were 50 years old too. Schneider has the same policy. They hand out graphite spray by the case to mechanics.

Go for some motorcyle cable lube, it's dry graphite after the carrier juice evaps. Comes in a bottle with a needle applicator, easy to lube latch/handle parts and the cable too!!
