I had a whole page and Snap.. it was gone!!! I hate computers!!!
TO: all of the "First On Race Day" guys out there.
I need help again, When you buy a New set of factory-type/legnth spark plug wires, (be it Ford, msd, taylor, moroso, etc.) for the 300I6, You get three(3) 180degree(straight) plug ends and three(3) 135or45degree (angled) plug ends. What cylinder gets what angle end?????? 180"s on 1,2,3 and 45's on 4,5,6 ???? or What?? I have looked for pics to no avail- that I can find??
Any Help???? THANX,
towtractorman
300 I-6, C-6 w/drum brake, 17.33:1 rear ratio, Redundant rear calipers (four),no front brakes (for those occasional wheelstands)LOL. top speed is a hurricane force 22m.p.h.!!!!!!!!!!!!!!zzzzzoooooooommmm,zzzzzzoooo oommmmmmm
The 135 degree ends are for the far reaching ones, like cylinders 1 and 6. It helps them since they have a long way to stretch.
The straight ones are for the middle ones, like 3 & 4.
In the end, it doesn't really matter. The length is more important. Start with the longest wire and put it on the furthest cylinder (6) and work down to the shortest wire and put it on the closest cylinder (3).
THANX much for the info, abandonedbronco!!! I got great info looking @ the exhaust swap. Exactly what I was planing, however, my existing manifold does not look like either of the ones you show. ( F.I. or 6-1). What have I got? do you have any pics??? Remember, my first name is 'computer illiterate'!!! As for the wires, I just wanted them to be symetrical, or I hoped ! Thanx again!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
What's that tube coming from the old exhaust header? Is that the hot air tube for the auto-choke? Mine has a manual choke with the hot-air hose removed, so I'm not sure where it plugs in to the manifold.

This is the stock exhaust manifold I removed:
Replaced it with manifolds from an EFI 300.
If you're meaning the intake, this is the stock intake I took off:
That's the exhaust recirculating pipe for the EGR system. If yours doesn't have it, it's probably been removed at some point.
A pipe like that for an autochoke would be massive overkill.
Hehe massive overkill, that's funny. Taking advantage of my lack of knowledge I see. I'm glad someone posted these pics, because now I see what the adapter manifold looks like. I might look into one of these this summer, although I'm thinking 2bbl rather than 4bbl--not sure what the easiest, most effective, and most cost-effective options would be for this mod. I don't need huge gains and I want to keep mpgs, just want a little more ***** than my Carter 1bbl. provides.
industrial engines of that era won't have an egr. look back at the 2 pictures I posted. the only emissions he should have is the pcv, and you need that.
I was referring to Krazeyelf's motor regarding the EGR pipe. I think his is mostly stock, so I would think it should have it unless someone took it off.
And Krazeyelf, I was just playing about the autochoke pipe. Simply because the pipe for that is usually around 1/2" in diameter and around 5" - 7" long. That massive pipe would be, indeed, way overkill. Heh
