So my 1997 F350 mason dump ran yesterday, and is dead this morning. Yesterday, I put my plow on at about 430pm and then at 1 this afternoon all i could get from it was a single click. Has this happened to anyone? is it the starter???
More than likely its the starter but check your wiring at the starter to make sure the ground or power didn't come loose. Also make sure your battery connections are tight.
Happened to me this morning, same problem.Wire on starter just needed a little tightening. Will need to change the end though soon as the wire end burn't up some from arcing.
When that happened to me and all the wireing was good, batteries new, it was the starter. Even though it tested good I got a new one anyway, problem solved.
As said: Wiring. also if all is snug, may want to jump the starter solenoid to see if that's gone bad. much cheaper than replacing starter. Passenger side fender well.
Mine started clicking real hard at the starter the other day. Jumped the selonoid and still a pretty pronounced click at the starter. Pretty sure its the starter but thats because the last couple times I started it it was cranking fast then slow then fast again and then it would fire. I havent checked the wires at the starter yet because of the giant puddle undeneath it from melting snow. Its just starting to dry out lol.
