Well, in the time it took me to type the last post, Cody responded that I would be fine. So no worries!

Bob,

Thanks for posting what Cody had to say. Better safe then sorry. Plus now we all know.

I read the whole IDM section on Swamps site and they sure have done their homework on the IDM. It would be nice to know what the test results are on the core you send in. If you get those results please share them. Thanks.

Robin, I may not be sending in the core. Swamps wants good cores, not failed ones. I may try to send in the core to the reman company I got it from. They said they would work with me on cost for another reman and swamps will take the working reman. So, I may save $100 or so in the end, or I may just keep the swapped reman as a backup.

I didn't think about any of this. Do you happen to know what Swamps would charge to test an IDM?

Robin, all I can say is that they said they'd be happy to test mine if I wanted to pay to ship it in and that if it was easily repairable they may give me the core charge after all. But thats after I just bought an IDM from them, so I dont know what they'd charge to just do it for someone.

Jennagirl, you're right, moisture is a common source of failure due to the fact that Ford mounted them in a poor location. Some people have relocated the IDM to aviod this issue. I may look at relocating mine while I have everything out.

Thanks for the response Bob. I'll just contact Swamps.

Edit: Just talked to Johnathan and testing is 25 bucks +shipping.
