So I've done the cap test and it will stay on but still getting alot of smoke not only out of the cap but the ccv mod tube. Setting at a stop light I can see it coming out of the tube back by the bumper. So my question is, is there anything to help this, other than new rings.
As crazy as this sounds but with the colder weather every year I see it too. As long as you don't get that chuffing like a old steam engine you should be ok. Heres a bump for more info.
bo-ti-er, when i got my truck, and foundthe video on cap test, just to see, that mines smoke, then comparing it to the video, that i saw, that didnt smoke, man i tell you, i couldnt sleep at night, until i realized much of us here, have the "smokey out the fill neck". If anything, i'd listen to the start=up. If it "hicups"/has that miss when turning over, where it sounds like it gains momentum/rpms, prior to starting, then, i'd worry about it, or like the others, if the cap cho chose off the fill tube, but until then, run your new truck...congrats
My truck smokes through the CCV like a freight train with 126k miles on it. No pressure apparent behind the vapor though at idle. At idle the cap does not move but just vibrates and sits there. I don't really put too much faith in this test other than to check for catastrophic compression loss such as a broken ring or completely worn out engine. An actual blowby pressure measurement is needed for meaningful information on engine condition.
I mean't to add in my previous post is people here reported over the years that different brand oils smoke more or less than others out the CCV and filler spout so take that in consideration too. I've notice that phenomena myself.
