78 351M starter problems
I am working on my 78 351M and am going through starters like candy. I get one from the local a/p store, put it in, starts three or 4 time and then starts whining like a baby. When I take it back they test it and the starter is working, but fortunately, they give me a new one anyway. What is wrong? How do I know I am getting the right size?

same problem
I have a 78 f-150 goes through starters like crazy. i just changed the flex plate so the parts store would be happy. well last night same stuff except when i took starter back out the bell housing of the starter broke off in the transmission bell housing.
