Roll on paint question
I've read that most people use rustolem, tractor paint, or duplicolor. I want to paint my truck Satin Black and none of these paints have that color. So my question is: can I roll on regular auto paint? Like this: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Eastwood-Rat-Hot-Rod-HotRod-Satin-Black-Paint-Kit-Flatz-_W0QQcmdZViewItemQQhashZitem35b0071352QQitemZ23058 6520402QQptZMotorsQ5fAutomotiveQ5fTools
Would I need to do anything different? One more question: I'm planning to cut out some rust holes and weld in new metal, would 16ga. be to thick, to thin, or just right?
Thanks guys
I just bought this paint on ebay $60:

Will one gallon be enough for my '86 F350 crew cab?
Next I found this gun at Harbor Freight (haven't bought it yet) for $39.99:

Will this spray gun work ok?
Last, I can rent a compressor from Rental Works for $61.98 a day:

Am I on the right track???
As for painting outside, would 70 degree weather be ok if I pull it in the garage as soon as I'm done?
Sorry for so many questions.
Gun will probably work, I have a couple Kobalts from Lowes that do a good job for the money.
Compressor has the cfm rating, but not enough storage. You will be waiting for it to catch up.
70 degrees is great, Stay out of direct sun. Metal temp will rise and dry about as fast as you shoot.
Some of the experts that do this for living will chime in, wait for their opinion.

I decided to rent a compressor and spray in my driveway (or the garage if I get around to cleaning it up). Right now I'm sanding off the brushed on house paint and doing some minor bodywork. Hopefully I'll be ready to paint in about a week or so.

As for painting a whole truck, alot will depend on the ratios you will need to mix as for how much you will need. Since you are going after a satin or flat black, coverage per layer should be decent, but you will likely go thru about 7 quarts of mixed paint (add 1 if you plan doing the jambs, inner fenders, inner hood, etc)
You will also need to apply primer to the repair areas.
For the paint gun you have selected, its not to bad of a choice, but its also not a great choice. But one thing I didnt see listed was what the tip or opening size was on it. There are different size tips for differnt types of paint.
The air compressor you want to use wont work. It will never keep up with spraying. Minimum size would be about a 26 gal and that might even be pushing it.

Chaosracing,
After I was told 1 gallon would not be enough, I emailed the guy and bought 2 gallons. They arrived about a week ago. One thing I have a question about: The seller said this paint is "Ready to spray", the flatner and reducer has already been added. I haven't opened it or any thing, but I'm still doing my bodywork, can this paint sit around for a couple of weeks with the flatner and reducer added???
The gun tip: I just looked through all of the manual that came with it, and it says nothing about the size of the opening.
The air compressor: Hopefully I can find a good used one on craigslist, or find another tool rental place. Maybe a 30-33 gallon?

I think it would end up looking more like roll on bedliner.
