idk guys i love that look. i am guessing beautie is in the eye of the beholder. i mean dont get me wrong my bed is in okay condition so i wouldnt swap. but if i had to i would go with a flareside. maybe i might pick up a flareside next winter.
I've had a couple flareside '78's and I thought they looked out of place, even more so on an 80's due to the boxer front fenders. But that's just me. The longbed flaresides looked pretty cool on a lifted Ford, though. Those seem to be the rarest. I had a '68 IH longbed stepside that I thought was pretty cool, but the front fenders were also rounded so it had a "flow" that worked with the overall design of the truck.... 70's/80's Ford, not so much.
ya... well i guess you are right the with OVER ALL design of the truck. the front would have different curves and/or moldings and then it would just STOP and not "flow" into the bed design. i see your point but i am talking about he simple cabs that dont have all that and OLDER gen trucks. i dont like flareside newer trucks.. not my taste.
To each their own, I'm not arguing, lol. I have a few older fat fendered trucks, and putting anything on but an old flareside bed looks out of place. The '57-72 years are kind of an inbetween, and the 73 on up just seem off. But that's just me.

yuea i hate the 80s flaresides, don't mind the rare 90s though...tried to buy a junk 82 a while back at a tow auction, no motor no doors no tailgate but it was 4X4 and the cab bed were ok...thing went for 450, thats just sad.....
Can i ask a quick question on here? I have a flareside bed that I bought and i think the truck might have been pieced together so i don't know if it really is from a 79 or not.
I seen people talking about the top of the rails being flat or angled, the top of the rails are flat.
But heres the question, on LMC truck, all the flareside pictures have inner wheel wells on the bed (see picture below). Is that how all 73-79 flaresides were made? because mine is flat on the inside of the bed, no bulge at all on the inside, so what year bed is it do you think? I can post a picture if needed.
