I don't use a tree but my first experience with an engine removal using a chain fall ended in near disaster. I decided to connect my chain fall through the rafter system of my garage. Let's just say the rafter didn't have the holding power. After that I used an engine hoist designed for that purpose. My truck is kept far away from the maples at my house. They put out way too many fallen branches and twigs and sap.
I grenaded the clutch disk in the 52 F6 tonight so it's sitting in the pasture a long way from the garage. Looks like I get to replace it laying on the snow. I have a garage to work in, but it seems most breakdowns happen away from there - some things never change.
Even though I don't have a garage, I am a lucky dude. I work behind my house by my shed but I live on a corner lot so it is visable from the road. My previous project was a 75 Pinto for my grand daughter and of course my F2 now. I have had them apart to work on them and it is obvious they are not movable but the town and neighbors have never complained. I keep a car cover over the Pinto when I am not working on it.
As a matter of fact the Pinto is better known then me. It was, oh your the guy with the Pinto. Now it is, Oh your the guy with the truck. It never changes, but I am grateful to be left alone.
BTW: The chief of police lives just doen the street from me. I wonder if he enjoyed my test drive of a muffler less Pinto as much as I did????

That's part of my problem. I live on a corner lot that just happens to also be a double lot. My driveway wraps around the end of my house that is visible to the streets. I have three driveway entrances. So when I'm working on my stuff it's visible from three directions.
I've been getting one or two notices from the city each year. I think I got three last year!
I've got a county sheriff that lives two houses down.
When I win the lottery I'll be able to build my dream garage in my back yard. Until then I just have to do what I can do, how I can do it.
I live in a condominium with the 'single' attached garage so my truck is really close to me, just across the hallway from my office/den. I can't store anything outside but I'm managing to do a complete cab, box, and suspension upgrade in here. My fenders are in the basement.
I wish I had a shade tree! That would make things a lot easier some days. I'm tinkering away in my Dad's yard, near his shop, because he has all of the tools. He also has my tools because I don't have a shady spot to keep them at home.
