Get Victor Reinz or ones from the IH dealer ( one and the same )
MAke sure to flip all your tension spreaders at the bolts so the are doing their job, and if you don't have one, get an inch pound torque wrench and torque the things down properly. . It really helps in the long run to put a light coat of Hylomar on both sides of the gaskets. those things are going to be on there for a long time with any luck at all.
Good deal, thank you! Which ones would you recommend Cork-rubber or Victo-tech?
Either will work great when sealed with a little Hylomar. The Victo-tech ones can generally be reused if needed ( on ones you might want to reuse later, use the hylomar advance formula, not the racing formula, racing formula sticks more, advance formula cleans off easier )
i wouldnt rec. using any cork gasket if u use any type of synthetic oil, it eats away at the gasket, and will cause ur leak to come back.... someone correct me if im wrong...

If you use Hylomar on the things, you won't get any leaks. Hylomar is teh factory sealant for Rolls Royce jet aircraft engines, seriously good stuff, it stretches when there are major distortions and forms a curtain and reforms back into compression when things warm up and maintains seal.
I've been using and selling Amsoil for over 25 years and used this combination in my shop daily before I retired.. Even without the sealant,, I've never had synthetic go through a new quality gasket if it's properly torqued ( Felpro does not count as a quality gasket, that is consumer grade junk, and those things are a coin flip). Where people get into trouble is in trying to reuse cork gaskets with synthetic where they have them glued to the valve cover and loose on teh bottom and they pull teh thing to adjust some valves and then then pop the valve cover back on and sing teh blues when it won't re seal
I used Felpro gaskets on my valve covers and haven't had any leak issues. The tension spreaders should have a slight bow to them. You want the bowed ends facing down like a lower-case "n". Most of mine were flat so I used a rounding hammer and re-arched them. I scraped all of the gasket remains off of the motor and valve covers and then cleaned everything with alcohol until I didn't get anymore discoloration. I installed the gaskets in the valve covers and reinstalled the covers. The passenger side sucked to reinstall with the fuel filter installed and the bolts closest to the firewall sucked to torque down.
