Can someone tell me more about what this is on the 4-barel manifold? Where is it located, what does it do, and can it be blocked off? The stock Ford manifold I have has a small hole right where the carb flange sits and I am wondering if this is the EGR hole. Thanks for any help you can give.
EGR lowers NOx emissions by reducing the peak combustion temperatures. It also helps reduce part-throttle ping. Yes, that hole is for letting in the exhaust into the EGR valve assy. that sits between the intake and carb. Some guys here have asked how to block it off and we’ve given them suggestions. Thing is, they don’t post back so I don’t know how successful they were.
Thanks Barry, that helps some. If I decide to block it off, after doing a search, I'll be sure and let you know how it goes. See, I replied. Seriously, I'll let you know what direction I decide to go. At this point I am thinking I might as well just spend the cash for a new RPM manifold. That would solve the problem nicely!
