Hi guys and gals, been a really long time since I've been on here. Been working 2 FT jobs that take up all of my time. I am hoping that I can find a solution to my no start problem so I don't have to give my money to the stealership. My truck would not start for me when I came out of the store today, ran good until then. All dummy gauges/lights came up like normal(fuel/batt./oil/WTS) and the fuel and oil pump made the noises when the key was turned on. When I go to crank it nothing comes from the starter. I installed a new GPR(stancor upgrade) and new starter a year ago. After a couple of attempts at starting, the batts drained to the midway point on the batt gauge. Jump start did not improve the situation. Took batts to AZ and ended up testing bad. Got new ones and installed. Same problem with no improvement. Batteries are both putting out 12.4V at this time. That is everything I can think of to describe situation. Thanks in advance for any help!!
Read this sticky at top of forum https://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/1...ky-thread.html if it doesnt do anything its your hpop or ficm (called something else on 7.3 but does same thing) hopefully just a gpr. goodluck Evan
Neutral start does not work either. GPR is upgraded Stanford unit, only a year old. I will reread the sticky about the pop and film. Thanks for the responses.
there must be a problem somewhere between your ignition and starter, check the solenoid, wiring for obvious damage/corrosion, turn your key, wiggle the ignition switch to see if thers a bad contact in it, then check for hot spots in the wires indicating a bad connection or use a multimeter to check for high om resistance/ open circuit; Feel the starter if its warm after attempting to start, bump it with a hammer, maybe have someone hold the key in start position while u do. Im not too familiar with the setup on new gords, maybe you can jump the solenoid like on the older trucks to bypass the ignition switch and solenoid. be sure ur in neitral when u do+ chock wheels cuz this will also bypass the neutral safety switch. I dunno where it is mounted on that year model.
Thanks. Already checked for any bad wiring or connections that stand out. Nothing out of the ordinary. Starter not hot. I think I'll go over everything again. Thanks.
Check your voltage to see if it drops when the starter is supposed to be spinning. If it does not then there is no power getting to the starter if it does then the starter is trying to spin and something is preventing that. It could be as simple as the starter has given up the ghost.
