Have thought about it... I have some 3/8" industrial rock crusher belting that I have cut and ready to attach for flare/mudguards for now. Was more interested in the general layout for the bumper to be able to have one custom made for my application... ie: integrated receiver, tire carrier, fuel can carrier.
We've done a couple of minor and major mods to the Ex over the last few weeks , so i'll start with the minor
Light flex tests showed the tires rubbing the metal flap in the rear wheelwell, so that had to go
I layed out a line just below a welded seam in the wheelwell, and cut it out.
the cut piece
Also, I took off the 10 pound counter weight from under the body...I'm heavy enough as it is
Now for the major
Since we took off the rotten side steps and lifted the EX a total of 14"..it has been a challenge to get in, So Kevn and I started to build some nice side steps/rock rails
We started by drilling out some factory holes to accept larger bolts
took the exhaust hangers off and banged out the studs
and drilled out for larger bolts
Bolting the mounting plates to the frame...lots of room to work
We also removed the heavy exhaust heat shield...all it will do it trap mud up against the body
Time to bend some pipe
Basic shape of the rock rails
Supported under the truck, Making the support arms
Arms welded...holding itself up
Here are the rock rails ....all tacked together
Step plate...all the holes layed out for dimple dies
and trimmed to fit
Unfortunately, I forgot my camera when we went to drill out the holes, press the dimple dies and finish welding the rails, but here they are mounted under the EX
