I have a 93 F-250 that cranks very slow but usually starts fairly easy when cold. After it is warmed up and shut off it will have to be cranked for 15-20 seconds sometimes longer to get it to start. I have new batteries a new high torque starter installed but it still cranks really slow. Any help would be appreciated.
if the cables are stock or old and cracked, then nothing will help. Check the cables and grounds. new batts and a new starter should wake that thing up big time. I never knew how slow mine cranked till i replaced the starter. the extended cranking could be due to the slow cranking or air intrusion but check all the large battery cables and connections, then check them on the starter and frame mounts. Best luck!
Thanks much, the cables are original and have had the factory end replaced so you guys are probably right. I was hoping that wouldnt be the problem since the pos cable is so expensive. I have been reading some other threads and I checked my return lines and it appears a few are leaking in between the injectors so I will change those and hope that is the problem. Thanks again for the advice.
That stuff will all help your problem. Another thing that I do is take my starter off every fall. take it apart and clean it and reassemble and reinstall
seems kind of overkill for a relatively inexpensive item, especially with boschs lifetime warranty. Either way, it isnt the starter causing slow cranks of he just put it in. Good tip though, just not for me, i hate that top bolt!!
